About Peter and PAW Dog Training

Peter is a highly experienced and successful Dog Handler, Dog Trainer, Instructor and Behaviourist.

He was a Metropolitan Police Dog Handler for 20 years and was an Accredited Home Office Instructor in General Purpose, Explosive, Narcotics and Weapons search.  He was an instructor at the World famous Metropolitan Police Dog Training School at Keston; where he also held the position of Chief Instructor.  Peter holds a Behavioural Diploma in Canine Human Interface from the Animal Care College at Ascot in Berkshire, as well as other Teacher Training Certificates.

As well as instructing, training and assessing dogs in all areas; his work in the police also included tactical firearm support and personal protection.  Peter has competed in Police Dog Trials to a National level; where he was successful with his dog 'Ollie'.

Peter's training approach is based upon assessing your dog's problems in its entirety; as well as the bond between the dog and its owners.  Peter will advise you on how to improve your dog's behaviour through training, diet and the relationship with your dog.  He will teach you why your dog displays certain forms of behaviour and how to counter and manage that behaviour.

Aggressive and anti-social dogs are a speciality of Peter's and he will be able to advise and train you on how to manage these problems. This will increase your confidence when handling your dog.

Assisting you to address all of your concerns is Peter's aim.  Dog owners want their dogs to be well behaved and happy.  It is common however, for dogs to misbehave and on occasions for the owners to lose confidence in their dog.  Peter will help rebuild your confidence and rectify any problems your dog has.

Peter believes that all training should be a relaxed and happy experience for your dog.  He will teach you how to handle your dog in a clear and concise manner.  You will be encouraged to ask questions to ensure you understand what he is teaching.  His training techniques are both humane and caring.

A full range of services are offered by Peter, that will improve your dog's behaviour as well as stimulate your dog.  He can offer consultations and training advice at your home, a location of your choosing or within our own secure training area located at our home address in Newchurch.  He is also able to offer free follow up advice by both email and telephone.

Dog Training classes are run by Peter; concentrating on both socialisation and obedience, with an element of agility too.  The classes are structured to teach dogs to walk to heel, the recall, the sit, the stay and down exercises.  The classes are limited in numbers of dogs, which means that everyone gets an acceptable amount of individual attention. It also means all dogs make progress during the weeks the courses run for.
